Executive Summary

This document covers the use of the Products screen within the Masters module. It details the steps to view the product list, add a new product, edit an existing product, and delete a product. The screen supports management of product records including key attributes such as name, code, fuel type, rates, and status.

Business Purpose

To enable operators to maintain an accurate list of products that are managed by the fuel station, including fuel types and associated rates. This ensures product data reflects current purchase and sale prices, and supports effective fuel station operations and inventory control.

Operating Procedure

  1. Open Products List: Access the Products screen to view the existing list of products. The table and form elements indicate product data availability.
  2. Add New Product:
    • Click the Add New button to open the product creation form.
    • Enter values in the fields: Name, Code, select Fuel Type, Main Fuel Type (e.g., Diesel), Purchase Rate, and Sale Rate.
    • Click Save to create the new product entry.
  3. Edit Product:
    • Locate the product in the product list.
    • Click the Edit button associated with the product row.
    • Update fields as necessary (e.g., update product name).
    • Click Save to apply changes.
  4. Delete Product:
    • Select the product to be removed.
    • Click the Delete button on the product row.
    • Confirm the deletion by clicking the confirmation button (e.g., Confirm, Yes).

Required Inputs

  • Name: Enter the product’s descriptive name.
  • Code: Enter a unique identifier code for the product.
  • Type: Choose the product type from the dropdown (e.g., Fuel).
  • Main Fuel Type: Select the main fuel type option (e.g., Diesel).
  • Purchase Rate: Enter the current purchase rate as a numerical value.
  • Sale Rate: Enter the current sale rate as a numerical value.
  • Status: Status defaults to active or is managed implicitly through the form or list interface.

Validation Rules

  • Fields such as Name and Code must be filled before saving.
  • Purchase Rate and Sale Rate should be valid numeric entries representing monetary values.
  • Fuel Type and Main Fuel Type must be selected before submitting the form.
  • Editing requires loading the selected product’s current values and saving updated fields.
  • Deleting requires user confirmation to prevent accidental removals.

Expected Results

  • After adding a new product and saving, the product appears in the product list with an edit button available.
  • Editing a product updates the record and reflects the new values on the screen after save.
  • Deleting a product removes it from the list following confirmation.
  • Success indicators typically include the enabled edit and delete buttons visible for saved products.

Exception Handling

  • If required fields are left blank or invalid data entered, the form will prevent saving and may display error prompts (not shown explicitly here).
  • If deletion is canceled at confirmation, the product remains unchanged in the list.
  • If any action fails to respond within expected wait times, retries or operator intervention may be necessary.
